If the writers intent is to make these women appear shortsighted & foolish then they are doing a fantastic job! Retta, Mae Whitman, and Christina Hendricks are all delivering stellar performances ~ too bad they don't have better material to work with!
These women are supposed to be portraying a trio of "bad-asses", yet they are allowing themselves to be blackmailed by a "so-called" Christian single mother, (I believe a true Christian wouldn't behave that way) and Annie's boss is getting away with framing her for drug possession, while basically treating her like an indentured servant.
I keep waiting for these women to actually show some true grit and do what it is going to take to really fix the messes they are in. (I have some great ideas about that).
Hopefully it will get better because even though I have found this to be a negative aspect of the show, I do enjoy it otherwise. Maybe the writers will get a clue, get more creative, and make some serious improvements. Dare to dream...

February 26, 2018 As a network show, it can't go far enough, deep enough, into these women's lives to make us root for them with anything like intensity. Good Girls needs to break bad much more badly than it's allowed to as part of NBC's lineup.
